The Community Church
Living and Serving Together with Love and Compassion
About our Community
Formed in 1904 as the Wilmette Baptist Church, The Community Church of Wilmette currently welcomes members from diverse backgrounds and faith traditions. While we remain deeply committed to the Wilmette community, our members and participants currently live across the United States. Whether online or in person, we are dedicated to nurturing our communities and serving together with love and compassion.
As a congregation, we are affiliated with the American Baptist Churches, USA, a Christian denomination that embraces personal and religious freedom.
We are also affiliated with the Association of Welcoming and Affirming Baptists, a coalition of congregations that support the full inclusion of LGTBQ individuals and families in our communities.
Sunday Morning Worship
The Community Church of Wilmette gathers on Sunday mornings at 10:00 am for worship. Our Sunday morning services are centered around music and poetry, readings from the Bible and other sources of wisdom, praying together for our communities, and a weekly reflection from our pastoral staff. Our Sunday morning worship includes a wide variety of music, from traditional and classical to contemplative and contemporary.
As a community rooted in Christian tradition, we celebrate communion on the first Sunday of each month. All are invited to join us at the table.
Worship During the Covid-19 Pandemic
Like many other congregations, we are currently only worshipping online via Zoom on Sunday mornings. Our online worship services feature music, poetry, reflections from our staff and congregation members, and a time to share our joys and concerns.
